Angela D'Audney Returns Home

Angela D'Audney has been discharged from hospital following surgery for a brain tumour.

TVNZ's Managing Editor Paul Cutler said the broadcaster would now begin a three-week period of convalescence.

He said she would then undergo radiotherapy treatment, expected to last about six weeks.

"Angela is as well as can be expected under the circumstances," he said. "Her speech, which had been slightly impaired, had improved after the operation and this has lifted her spirits."

Angela underwent an operation on May 24 after a MRI scan revealed she had developed a brain tumour.

Mr Cutler said Angela had received dozens of bunches of flowers and hundreds of cards. ""We have been taking them to her by the bagful and she is so appreciative of the kindness of people. She is especially grateful that she has heard from people from right around New Zealand, particularly the South Island."

Mr Cutler said Angela now hopes people will respect her privacy during the next phase of her treatment.
