Kahukura Newsletter July-August 2001

Kia ora friends,

Congratulations to The Black Seeds, the winner of the Handle the Jandal music video award for best concept, sponsored by Kahukura Productions Limited; and also the overall competition winner, with their song Keep on Pushing. This competition, which brought together local musicians and filmmakers, went off with a bang last night. We hope all the participants enjoyed it and will continue to make innovative music videos with the support of the film industry in general.

This month we have been holding workshops with actors to further develop several of our scripts. These have been very fruitful with lots of useful points raised as well as all the participants enjoying themselves.

Six of the 26 episodes of the lovebites series have been completely finished and delivered to TV3. The lovebites website has been expanded, new stuff is going up all the time now so check it out at www.lovebites.tv

The Dish is holding it’s own, still in the top twenty, number 14 at the New Zealand box office. This film is now screening at many of the smaller localities throughout the country. You can see it on the big screen at The Bridgeway, Queen Street, Devonport or Epsom in Auckland, Manners Mall or the Penthouse theatre in Wellington, the Hollywood Theatre or Rialto in Christchurch, the Rialto in Dunedin, Thames, Wairau Park, Taumaranui, Ohakune, Wanaka, Marton, Te Puke, Kaikoura, Oruru, Tokoroa, Gore, Takaka, and Roxburgh.
