Pizza Haven Beats Naked Chef!

Media Release
9 November 2001

Pizza Haven Beats Naked Chef!

It’s official! Pizza Haven is faster than the Naked Chef when it comes to rustling up a pizza.

On the second night (Tuesday 6 November) of Jamie Oliver’s NZ ‘Happy Days Tour’ in Wellington, the Naked Chef made a bet with the audience - that he could prepare a pizza from scratch quicker than a local pizza store could deliver one.

With a quick glance of the Yellow Pages, Jamie chose Pizza Haven, made the order then started preparing his own pizza. That night Pizza Haven was just pipped at the post with Jamie five minutes ahead.

The next night, Jamie called Pizza Haven again and on the second go – Pizza Haven caught the Naked Chef with his pants down! The Pizza Haven pizza was delivered under 30 minutes leaving Jamie’s punch line out in the cold and his pizza roasting in the oven.

Ian Thomson of Pizza Haven, who delivered the pizza, says: “Jamie may have lost the bet this time but with his wicked sense of humour he took it fairly and squarely on the chin. He was pretty cheesed off on the night, but the next night he informed the audience – ‘I’m not going to call that Pizza Haven lot again ‘cause they ruined my punch line!’”

To date (9 November 2001) Jamie Oliver has not used Pizza Haven again for his pizza stunt!
Ends.
