Banging Cymbal, Clanging Gong
Jo Randerson's solo show Banging Cymbal, Clanging Gong returns to BATS Theatre this week.
“It's obviously
allegorical and I guess its contradictions are part of the
point. With a world at escalating war because each faction
thinks they are right and their cause is just and holy, and
those who think/feel/act otherwise are evil, it may
stimulate important thought for some. Others, like me, may
find the central revelation, that even punks have hearts,
banal. I also reject the assertion that those who take the
more conventional road are therefore morally and spiritually
dead. But the fact I'm engaged enough to argue such points
(without imposing my views through fear of violence)
probably means Randerson is achieving her aim.”
