Alinghi Qualifies For Semi Finals

AUCKLAND - November 15, 2002 - Team Alinghi will advance directly to the Semi Finals. The Race Committee received notice of the withdrawal from the Quarter-Final series of the Louis Vuitton Cup from the Yacht Club Punta Ala/Prada Challenge of its yacht ITA-74 at 19:07.

Pursuant to Sailing Instruction 18.2, SUI-64 will be awarded the point for Race 4, thereby winning their Quarter-Final match 4 points to none, and pursuant to Condition 9.4(a)(ii) the “no change” period for both SUI-64 and ITA-74 ended at the expiry of protest time, being 17.59 on 15 November 2002.

Team Alinghi awaits the outcome of the match between OneWorld Challenge and Oracle BMW Racing to know who their opponent will be for the best-of-seven Semi Final series, starting December 9, 2002.
