Nailbiting Finish Concludes Sail Melbourne Regatta
Nailbiting Finish to Conclude Sail Melbourne Regatta
There are just hours to go until the final results of the Sail Melbourne Regatta are known. The final 2 races are being held today, which marks the end of the 6 day regatta. Results will be posted on the official website this evening at the conclusion of the day's racing - http://www.sailmelbourne.com.au/results/index.asp
It is down to the wire in a number of classes, and with 2 races to go, there are few clear winners, with the leader board changing all the time.
NZL Mens Mistral sailors Jon-Paul Tobin and Thomas Ashley are currently in 1st and 2nd place respectively, but with only 2 points separating them after 8 races, it is still anyone's guess as to who the top three will be.
Barbara Kendall (NZL), who earlier led the series, scored a 4-1 yesterday which put her in 2nd place, just behind Natasha Sturges (GBR), but again only 2 points separate the two on the scoreboard, with Jessica Crisp (AUS) nipping at their heels in 3rd.
Sarah Macky (Europe) and Andrew May (2.4mr) are still within striking distance of a medal.
470's Shelley Hesson and Linda Dickson are currently in 3rd place, while Jake Bartrom has a healthy 5 point lead on 2nd placing Richard Howard (AUS) in the Laser Radial fleet.
The final two races will begin at Port
Phillip Bay at 2.00pm (4pm our time).
