Extreme Mix At Royal Easter Show

Extreme Mix At Royal Easter Show

A visit to the Royal Easter Show is a must for extreme sports fans this year - Australia's number one freestyle sports team, the Pepsi Max team, is making its first New Zealand appearance at the show from April 16th to 21st at the Auckland Showgrounds.

The team, with its combination of freestyle motorcross, BMX, aggressive inline skating and skateboarding will perform up to five half hour sessions a day on a massive 20 tonne multi-sport course. The precisely choreographed sequences of tricks include crossovers, 360 degree vertical loops and triple stacks, with the athletes soaring through the air within inches of each other.

With a dozen world and Australian titles between them, the Pepsi Max team brings together Australia's best action sports athletes. Team members include motocross freestyler and master of the backflip Jono Porter, freestyle BMX rider Tim Wood, skateboarder Brad Dury, who has toured with Tony Hawk, and inline skater Matt Salerno.

The action sports team is one of several exciting new attractions at the show this year. Car fans will have the chance to see some of New Zealand's hottest cars, while for younger family members Bob the Builder will perform live on stage five times a day.

This year the show celebrates its 160th anniversary with a new look and offers an eclectic mix of contemporary features combined with traditional favourites.

Inside the exhibition halls The Performance Zone will feature more than 50 modified four-cylinder and rotary performance vehicles with typical outrageous body kits and wheels, crazy paint schemes and interiors.

The Bob the Builder Show will be a sure hit for younger family members with the man himself and his troupe of dancers performing all the kids favourites live on stage in the Logan Campbell Centre.

Traditional favourites include the carnival rides, Strongman and Axeman competitions, show jumping, and A&P competitions, while a herd of CowParade's fiberglass bovines will be grazing alongside their country cousins.

Then there is the Madsen Brothers' Tribute to the BeeGees show, the talent quest, works from the New Zealand Royal Easter Show Art Awards, and a wide range of exhibitors.

All visitors to the show have a chance to win numerous prizes, including an apartment in central Auckland.
