“NZ menswear label House of Hank spices up MTV Movie Awards ”

Exciting New Zealand menswear label House of Hank was launched onto the international stage at the 2003 MTV Movie awards in Los Angeles last night. The show, attended by leading celebrities was watched by millions of people in the US and around the world.

House of Hank designs were worn by actor Andy Serkis, who played the extraordinary character Gollum in the Lord of the Rings (LOTR), for his acceptance speech when he won the MTV Movie title of Best Virtual Performance.

Designer Hank Cubitt worked with LOTR publicity department Three Foot Six to create the classy outfit that had the House of Hank trademark twist.

“LOTR has showcased New Zealand moviemaking talent to the world,” says Hank Cubitt. “This has created an unprecedented platform for other industries like mine to show the world what else we can do in New Zealand.”

In the acceptance speech filmed New Zealand due to filming commitments, Andy Serkis interacted with his virtual character Gollum wearing a black jacket with check inlay and a bronze and gold silk ‘tuxedo’ shirt with glint detail.

House of Hank is the only menswear store in the country where customers can be a part of the design process and work with Hank Cubitt to create styles and fits based on personal taste and needs. Other stores offer custom-make from a selection of set options. At House of Hank, this is only the start.

House of Hank has received wide recognition for creating one-off outfits such as wedding ensembles that help make special occasion something to remember.


Fashion Shows

House of Hank’s inaugural fashion show, FUSION, was a highlight of Wellington Fashion Festival 2002. The collection was met with critical acclaim from the fashion community and recognised as a new beginning for Wellington men’s fashion.

House of Hank has been offering innovative and unique menswear from its Willis Street location for over two years. Hank Cubitt has over ten years experience in cutting and design and is joined by a team of three specialists in machining and pattern-making.

Also supporting the Wellington fashion industry through commercial cutting, Hank Cubitt is known is a well-known master of cloth.

House of Hank is concentrating on extending the ready-to-wear collection, while continuing to offer the fully customised made-to-measure service it is known for.
