"Shakespeare's women are not quite the innocent victims of masculine desires they appear to be"
Toi Whakaari: NZ Drama School 3rd year students perform Desdemona: a play about a handkerchief at Te Whaea home of the national Dance and Drama School on 27th June to 5th July.
Desdemona a funny irreverent look at the three women of Othello. The noblewomen, the servant and the whore, ruthlessly pursue their separate escapes from the world that is collapsing around them. Themes of female sexuality, class structures and prostitution are explored in this racy and provocative comedy.
"Desdemona is a deliciously demented version of the Moor's tale" - Wall St Journal
