BDS Big Mountain Freeride Workshop and Comp

BDS Big Mountain Freeride Workshop and
Comp
July 26 & 27 2003
Chillout with skiers and boarders who FreeRide professionally @ the BDS Big Mountain Workshop and Comp. Unlike ski racing, where a course is set up for the competitor, big mountain freeriding (formerly "extreme" skiing) allows a competitor to utilise the features existing on the mountain between the start house and the finish area.
Competitors use areas such as cliffs, steeps, and skiing speed to increase the difficulty of their run. Big Mountain FreeRiding is a judged competition, which requires five judges to evaluate the competitor on five categories: Line Choice, Control, Fluidity, Technique, and Aggression. The final winner will be judged over the 3 Big Mountain FreeRiding events (Craigieburn Valley, Broken River and Mt Olympus) and will be announced at the Forrest Lodge Party 13 September. You can enter all 3 Comps at a discounted rate of $55 (saves you $15) for CHILL Pass Holders only.
The Chill Session Sponsors have contributed a host of prizes including Export Gold & Lindauer, Convert & Columbia clothing, Cactus packs & accessories, Briko goggles and glasses, Ski & Board Surgery Vouchers, C4 Coffee, YHA Accommodation vouchers, a Burton board & bindings for an up and coming Junior, a pair of Dynastar skis and Look bindings for another junior. Cosmic Corner is on board to support the party and the overall CHILL Session champions will win a premier sponsors prize pack.
Craigieburn definitely lives up to its reputation as the most challenging mountain in the Southern Hemisphere. Once you've driven up the breathtaking access road you'll find yourself surrounded by steep powder bowls, big ridgelines and tight chutes.
So…come and hang out in the mountain lodge for the weekend and soak up the atmosphere. CHILL Session Weekend Packages start from $90 for CHILL Pass Holders and will sort you out with 1 nights accommodation, dinner, breakfast and the 2 day workshop & comp. Transport from Chch, Methven, or Castle Hill village can be arranged. Pre-registration is essential as numbers are limited.
