Thu 11 Sept (YES ITS THE 9/11 GIG) 10pm Price TBA Blow your Headphones something wicked this way comes, yeah THE HERBALISER. The treasured sons of Ninja Tune that blew our minds back in 1998 are returning to our shores in September to bless us with a four decks'n'effects extravaganza. Jake Werry and Ollie Teeba (AKA The Herbaliser) are the biggest and purest of hip-hop artists on the prolific Ninja Tune label. Ninja Tune is hailed as one of the most groundbreaking and innovative of labels around today, why, because they give their artists freedom. Such artists as Coldcut (the founders of Ninja Tune), Mr Scruff, Roots Manuva and of course The Herbaliser have all flourished under Ninja Tunes constraint free, independent philosophy. Since The Herbalisers 1998 debut in New Zealand the boys have been busy, both in their studio and touring the world. The most recent fruit of their labour being the 2002 release of their forth album 'Something wicked this way comes', a deep rich and unique blend of jazz, funk, and soul.
