TVNZ Drama Commissioner Appointed
TVNZ's General Manager of Commissioning, Tony Holden, is pleased to announce the appointment of Chris Gist to the position of Drama Commissioner for TVNZ effective 1 September 2003.
"Chris brings many relevant skills and a wealth of experience to this role that will help TVNZ further identify and promote the complex drama genre and enable us to provide viewers with the best in local drama programming. We have significant plans for local drama and Chris will play an integral part in the development and execution of a number of exciting new initiatives."
Over the past decade, Chris Gist has held various positions within the television production industry in New Zealand, Australia and Europe and was instrumental in the set-up and launch of a number of television productions. During his career he has been a script writer, editor and producer, story liner and editor and programme developer.
Most recently Chris Gist was based in Australia working on such successful shows as Neighbours, Home & Away and McLeod's Daughters. In 2000 he was a consultant to South Pacific Pictures for the iconic local drama, Shortland Street.
Chris Gist will work alongside the current Commissioner for Drama, John McRae, until John McRae's retirement at the end of the year.
