Barbershop Blokes Believe Bigger is Better

Barbershop Blokes Believe Bigger is Better

More men are needed to produce a bigger sound for Mighty River Harmony. The 50-strong barbershop chorus, formerly known as the Hamilton Hair Razors, wants to boost its numbers by offering training and the prospect of membership to men keen to sing in four-part harmony.

President of the chorus, Harold Henderson, says that a larger group would produce richer tones.

_Having more singers gives us more options in developing light and shade and more power when we need it. We have a good bass section and we want to swell the numbers of leads, tenors and baritones to match it,_ he says.

_People dons very satisfying and great fun._

The chorus will hold an Open Night at the McMeekan Centre, Ruakura on Tuesday (2nd Sept) at 7.30pm. Prospective members and anyone interested in listening, observing a rehearsal, learning about harmony singing or joining in the songs are most welcome.
