Tuatara Day - Oliver's Big Day Out

They've been around for millions of years, so it was about time they had a day of their own! Last Sunday, Karori Wildlife Sanctuary held Tuatara Day. Oliver the tuatara from Victoria University was there and Tim Markwell, lecturer in Ecology and Conservation from Victoria University gave some fascinating talks about the ecology of tuatara.
It was a glorious day, weather-wise and over 850 people came along to the Sanctuary to see and learn more about tuatara, one of the species the Sanctuary plans to re-introduce into the valley as part of its restoration plan.
