A Study of Auckland's Multicultural Diversity

This exhibition takes a look at Auckland's immigrant communities, focusing on people who have moved to New Zealand from a cross-section of countries, including those troubled by war and racial strife. It examines how the immigrants settle in at the same time keeping their cultures alive through dance, music and social events.

There are also a few case studies of refugees in search of better lives. Pictures are documentary style depicting the people studied in their environments; at work, at their places of worship, at home with the family and partaking in social activities. Photographs include Kurdish people celebrating the capture of Saddam Hussein, a Japanese kindergarten and a traditional Indian wedding, to name a few. Several festivals feature in this including the Indian Diwali Festival of Lights, Chinese New Year and Pasifika. The exhibition is sponsored by PCL, Artmount, Pro Gear and Hairworld.
