Rings Oscar on Display in Upper Hutt and part of History Making
The Academy Oscar for sound mixing on Lord of the Rings won by Upper Hutt resident Mike Hedges is now on display at Expressions Arts and Entertainment Centre in Upper Hutt . Last Saturday night in was another part of history making when it shared the stage at Upper Hutt's Sports Awards with what is believed to be NZ's oldest sporting trophy ,the Ballinger Belt.
This is competed for at the National rifle shooting champs every January . Having the opportunity to exhibit the Oscar in Upper Hutt is a very fitting way for the city to recognise Mike Hedges' achievements. City Promotion Manager Paul Lambert says there is still a steady flow of overseas tourists visiting Upper Hutt to see the Lord of Rings film locations there and the bonus of seeing an real LOTR Oscar is a bonus for them.
Expressions is open 10 am to 4pm Tuesady to Sunday and is located next to the Civic Offices on Fergussojn Drive
