Get in Quick - Mt Ruapehu Season Pass Offer

22 April 2004 For immediate release

Get in Quick - Mt Ruapehu Season Pass Offer Ends as Winter Beckons

Skiers and boarders have just one week to scoop up a cheap Mt Ruapehu
Season Pass before the pre--season deal ends on Friday 30 April.

For the remainder of April Mt Ruapehu Season Passes will cost only $299 for
adults, $259 for students and $169 for youths aged 16 years and under.

From 1 May, passes for adults will be $639, students $549 and youths $349.

Mike Smith, Mt Ruapehu Marketing Manager, says Season Pass sales for April
are up 20 per cent on the same time last year, and this can be attributed
to the cooler autumn conditions.

"There were good snowfalls on both ski fields over Easter, with up to 30
centimetres falling on Turoa during the holiday period," says Mr Smith.
"So far April has had many cold, frosty nights followed by sunny days and
if these conditions continue, we're looking at a fantastic season at Mt
Ruapehu."

Snowmaking facilities on Whakapapa and Turoa, which extend to the Winter
Garden on Turoa this year, are on track to start operating in early June as
planned. Mr Smith says May will be a busy month as the Ski Area undergoes
final pre--season maintenance in preparation for both fields' expected
openings from mid to late June.

"Over the next two months almost 750 people will be starting winter jobs on
the mountain -- many travelling the world to be part of the Mt Ruapehu ski
season," says Mr Smith. "As summer sightseeing and guided walks to the
Crater Lake wrap up, we're looking forward to an exciting array of winter
events, including the Ohakune Mardi--Gras, the Mt Ruapehu Spring Festival,
and the Ski Nationals which kick off in September at Turoa."
