Tvnz Appoints New Arts Editor
TVNZ today announced the key strategic appointment of Philippa Mossman as the public television broadcaster’s Arts Editor.
Philippa has more than 12 years production experience and joins TVNZ from Greenstone Pictures where she has spent the past eight years as a producer.
Her production credits include Mercury Lane (23 hours of arts documentaries for TV ONE and a finalist in the 2003 Qantas Media Awards), two series of semi-dramatised history documentaries Epitaph and many one-off documentaries including Crump, Hudson and Halls and The Respectable Addiction.
Before going into production Philippa worked in arthouse cinema and produced theatre.
TVNZ’s General Manager Commissioning and Production, Tony Holden, said Philippa would oversee the creative content of TVNZ’s arts shows, maintain the quality and diversity of that content and manage relations with the arts community and independent producers on behalf of TVNZ.
“We are delighted to have such a highly qualified television practitioner on board to ensure TVNZ strives to, and eventually fulfils, its remit to be the home of arts, performance and entertainment on New Zealand television,” Mr Holden said.
“Our core purpose is to inform, entertain and educate with excellent television and this core purpose also underpins our arts television programmes.
“TVNZ has a strategy to reflect and encourage creative talent, excellence and quality and Philippa will play a big part in bringing that strategy to life.”
Philippa begins at TVNZ next month.
