New Zealand Affordable Art Show applications roll in!
The inaugural New Zealand Affordable Art show to be held in Wellington in mid August has received an avalanche of applications from artists.
Event coordinator Carla Russell says that artists from all around the country are making sure that they take advantage of this unique opportunity, with artists from Nelson, Taranaki, Canterbury, Northland and Wellington leading the way.
” We are now closing in on a hundred artist applications. Luckily we still have room for at least another hundred, maybe even two hundred artists,” she says.
Believed to be New Zealand’s largest art sale, applications have come from a wide spectrum of the arts community from some very well known artists through to first-time exhibitors. Sir Michael Fowler has submitted approximately thirty pieces of art while Matt Gauldie has also committed to providing works for sale.
Another well-known Wellington artist Lynne Sandri, who is also on the New Zealand Affordable Art Trust, is painting a special piece for the show.
”I believe this show is a great opportunity for both new and established artists to showcase their work to thousands of potential buyers. I would definitely encourage new artists to utilise this opportunity to exhibit and sell their work, as this could be a turning point in their artistic career,” she says.
Ms Russell says there’s still plenty of time for artists to submit their work but applications must be received by July 5th. Applications will then be approved before the show begins on 12th August.
