Wellington Poets head to Upper Hutt for Festival Day
Well known Wellington Poets Kate Camp and Harry Ricketts and others head to Upper Hutt on Friday 16 July for Montana National Poetry Day.
“Eat your Words” is an all day free festival of performance poetry at four venues. The finale starts at Expressions Arts and Entertainment Centre at 5.45pm and runs till 9pm. A special part of the evening will be Harry Ricketts reading excerpts from his friend Bill Sewell’s poetry. Bill’s collection “Ballad of Fifty-one” is a finalist in this year’s Montana Book Awards.
Wayne Mason will also be playing an acoustic guitar session and on the grand piano. He wrote his award winning song “Nature” while living in Upper Hutt.
Winners of Upper Hutt's own poetry competition will aslo be announced on the night ." Rhyming Business' sees poets writing a poem about an Upper Hutt business. This is the fourth year of Upper Hutt's own mini poetry festival .
