Supersport Challenge
High-speed off-piste racing and high altitude superpipe action with $3,000 of prize money up for grabs is attracting the country’s gutsiest free skiers to the Supersport Challenge at Cardrona Alpine Resort on 7 August.
The morning features the V-Ski Pipe Jam in Cardrona’s massive Johnny Superpipe. Not only are the skiers competing for the $1,500 prize pool but also the respect of their peers, as the event is rider judged. The top five performers will be in the money.
In the afternoon the action steps up a level in the speed stakes as the competitors trek towards Cardrona’s summit for the start line of the Volkl Vertical Hoon. The skiers race en mass from the top of the mountain to the bottom taking the most direct line through Scum Valley and the gnarly lower Arcadia chutes. The first three placings will be the recipients of the $1,500 prize pool. Helmets and nerves of steel are compulsory.
