Base Ultracross Race Series
After four weeks of racing, the final of the Base Ultracross Series took place at Cardrona Alpine Resort today with 12 teams of skiers and boarders competing for a share of the $2,000 prize pool plus Rossignol skis and snowboards.
There were no friends on course, especially in the men's snowboard finals that were fiercely fought. Matt Rusher emerged victorious, together with team mate Jonathan Cheever who came second, resulting in the overall pole position for their team, Rusty Inca Edges. The Base team took out second place overall after a strong performance from JMS while 420 Pornkings came third. The ski team from Base did better than their snowboard counterparts taking first place overall after winning every race of the series ahead of Team The Other Side.
Although the field was smaller in the women¹s snowboarding it was just as competitive. Red Rock Racing Divas came out tops after a clean sweep ahead of rivals Park Street Posse. In the women's skiing there was only one team entered. Anne Marie McEvoy from ACC girls took out first place followed by Sandra Fox and Cath Dalman in third.
