Ice Sculptures Boost Moscow's Bid For 2012 Games
A festival of ice sculptures devoted to Moscow's bid to host the 2012 Olympic Games has opened in Moscow.
The 'Olympic Symphony' ice festival includes ice models of Moscow's best known sports venues and sculptures of architectural symbols of the other four Candidate Cities competing for the 2012 Games.
Alexander Chernov, General Manager of the
Moscow 2012 Bid Committee, said: "Our ice festival is a
spectacular start to the New Year – a year which we are
determined will see Moscow win the right to host the 2012
Olympic and Paralympic Games.”
The ice sculptures are located on Vasilievsky Spusk, by the Kremlin and St Basil's Cathedral, on the bank of the Moskva River, the centrepiece of Moscow's 2012 Games plan.
