Wartime Idol -A winner at Trentham Races

Trentham Army Camp is an important part of Upper Hutt and today shared its heritage with Wartime Idol at Trentham Racecourse .

NZ Idol judge Frankie Stevens hosted a competition where nearly 30 singers dressed in relevant wartime attire sang their way through favourites like "Now is the Hour ', "Lili Marlene " and "White Cliffs of Dover " .

The sound of brass band returned to the track with the Levin and Upper Hutt Cosmopolitan Brass Bands providing the live music.

Racegoers were drawn out of the grandstands between races to watch the contestants entertain.

Eileen Scott formerly of Pahiatuia , now resident in Wellington was the winner singing ' We'll meet again '

The event was supported by NZ Community Trust.

Organisers are considering a follow up next year with other periods of music.
