Members Of The 501st Legionnaires To Meet Mayor Of Auckland City

20 members of Outpost 42, the New Zealand division, so named for New Zealand’s geographical location, will assemble in Auckland from all around New Zealand on Monday May 16th to help celebrate the New Zealand Premiere of the last instalment in the long running Star Wars saga Episode III: Revenge of the Sith which opens in cinemas May 19th.

As part of the event, the Mayor of Auckland, Dick Hubbard, will officially welcome the 501st to the city at 12 noon on May 16th at the entrance to Aotea Square.

Members of the public will then have the opportunity to have their photos taken for free with such characters as Darth Vader, Storm Troopers and TIE Fighters amongst the many assembled.

The 501st is a premiere international group of people who own and proudly wear costumes of characters from the films. The 501st came into existence in the mid 90’s and has 3000 + members in 21 countries.

Later in the day, the 501st will be present at the Variety Gala Charity Premiere of the film which will take place at Village SkyCity Cinemas in Newmarket, where 1500 guests will see the film 3 days prior to world wide open on May 19th.
