International Fashion Writer Tim Blanks Does Lunch!
Air New Zealand Fashion Week brings a global fashion perspective to town.
The countdown to Air New Zealand Fashion Week 2005 (17-21 October) begins in June with a fashionable lunch in celebration of New Zealand’s most fashionable event.
After making his first visit to the collections in Auckland last October, Tim Blanks returned to his regular beat in the Northern Hemisphere full of stories about what’s on the catwalk in New Zealand.
Now he’s coming back to put New Zealand in the mood for fashion at a special lunch organised by Air New Zealand Fashion Week at the Hilton hotel on Thursday 16 June.
The idea of the Fashion Lunch comes directly from Managing Director, Pieter Stewart who is responding to demand for more access to the international guests who attend the event.
“There is tremendous interest in the people who come to cover the event but during the collections the most the public get to see of them is a brief television interview or story in the paper. We’re delighted Tim wants to come back and share his stories with a wider audience.”
The lunch is a unique opportunity to hear tales of catwalk life from a New Zealander who is now one of the world’s most respected fashion commentators. Tim will talk about his life in and out of style. He’ll also share his opinion of how New Zealand fashion hangs in the global wardrobe.
From Karen Walker to Miuccia Prada, Blanks has studied the rise and fall of the great names of fashion across three decades. His credits include Vogue magazines on two continents, the British fashion press, Vanity Fair and his weekly fashion television programme, Fashion File which screens in 120 countries.
The lunch will also feature a fashion show from leading New Zealand designers, a goodie bag in true fashion style and a prize draw for tickets to this years’ Air New Zealand Fashion Week.
Tickets are available by calling Robyn at Air New Zealand Fashion Week on 09 377 8033 or by emailing Robyn@nzfashionweek.com with credit card details. The price per person for the two course lunch is $125.00 or $1,125.00 for a table of ten (GST inclusive)
