Masters Ski Racing Starts At Cardrona
The 2005 Masters Ski Racing season kicked off at Cardrona Alpine Resort at daybreak today with 27 racers aged between 33 and 69 taking part in the Browns Ski Shop Super GS.
Deannie Johnstone from Queenstown took the honours of fastest woman with a time of 1:11.24. Wanaka’s Bonnie Teat was hot on her heels with 1:11.79 and Elizabeth Wallace came in third with 1:15.92.
In the men’s competition 68-year-old Walter Unterberger from Richmond had the fastest time of 1:07.60. Willy Hunt of Queenstown took second place with 1:09.97 while Richard Hutchison of Wanaka came third with 1:10.53.
