In Memory of Te Waiora
In Memory of Te Waiora
Community Radio Hamilton show CanTeeners on Air will celebrate the life of friend and fellow broadcaster Te Waiora Waetford in a special, hour-long programme from 4pm on Tuesday, 9 August 2005. Te Wai died on Sunday, 31 July after a long battle with leukaemia.
The ‘Te Wai Special’ will feature friends and family sharing memories of his life, and talk about Te Wai’s desire to see work promoting the bone marrow donor programme continue. Te Wai was recently featured on TVNZ’s Sunday programme, discussing his search for a suitable bone marrow donor.
Te Wai is remembered as an enthusiastic and inspiring volunteer broadcaster, says Community Radio Hamilton general manager Phil Grey. “Te Wai exemplified the true spirit of Access radio by being so open to discuss the challenges his illness posed. He will be missed by all at Community Radio Hamilton.”
Community Radio Hamilton broadcasts on AM1206 Waikato wide, or on 106.7FM within Hamilton City.
