Goal of Providing 1,500 Toys to the CCF

Goal of Providing 1,500 Toys to the Child Cancer Foundation to Provide Joy to Children Suffering from Cancer

AUCKLAND; November 22, 2005—This Christmas, Starbucks Coffee Company is teaming up with The Child Cancer Foundation and with the support of the New Zealand public will help spread joy and excitement through the Christmas Joy Drive. Starting today through December 23, customers can make donations at Starbucks coffeehouses across New Zealand, to benefit children suffering from cancer in the Child Cancer Foundation network.

“At Starbucks, we believe in the importance of giving back to our community. Thanks to the help of our customers and store partners (employees), we can make a difference in the lives of local children with donations collected during this year’s Christmas Joy Drive,” said Steve Montgomery, general manager, Starbucks Coffee New Zealand. “We look forward to seeing the smiles of children who receive gifts this Christmas.”

“Donations from the toy drive will not only make the holiday season brighter for the children and their families, but will hopefully provide a momentary retreat from the troubles and worries in their day-to-day lives, said Jim Barclay, CEO of the Child Cancer Foundation.”

During the holidays, customers are invited to purchase and deliver new, unwrapped gifts to their local Starbucks store. Suggested gifts include toys for individual children, books, DVDs, and other games.

Busy customers who do not have time to purchase a gift can support the Christmas Joy Drive with a monetary donation to the Child Cancer Foundation. Postage paid envelopes will be available for customers to mail donations of any dollar amount. The money collected during the toy drive will also benefit children suffering from cancer in the Child Cancer Foundation network.
