Lock up your babysitters (or at least book them in) for the mighty exponents are coming to a town near you this summer. Yip sir, in the tradition of the Sex Pistols, Duran Duran and, um, Go West the exponents line-up have got back together after 5 years, to get it together and do what they do best: get on the road, pack out a pub and play more top forty singles than most bands can shake a stick at. In fact 18 of them, a NZ record!
Jordan Luck, Brian Jones, Dave Gent and Harry have been rehearsing and writing in honour of their fantastic double CD, ‘ Sex and Agriculture and besides’ NOW PLATINUM SALES and they are bringing their energetic live show to town. Harry’s perfected that whole ‘count-in’ thing, Dave’s found his original strap, Brian’s been working on the guitar solo in ‘Airway Spies’ (clue Brian, there isn’t one) and Jordan has been practicing his best version of ‘Good evening Invercargill and Hamilton!’ in the shower. With both hands, too.
From the early years of ‘Victoria’, ‘Know Your Own Heart’ and ‘All I Can Do’ thru the mid-period ‘My Love For You’ and ‘Christchurch’ to the globe-straddling hits of ‘Why Does Love?’ and ‘Who Loves Who The Most?’ the band will romp through the highlights and sidelights of their career, with a swagger and charm not seen since they first graced our stages back in (gulp) 1980.
Uh-huh, 25 years and not a hair out of place. Grab your friends, your tickets and your mobile (to wave during ‘Nameless Girl’) and come on down to get on up with the exponents.
It’ll be some night out, we reckon. As this really is the last!
