Discounted Theatre

The team behind GOLDEN BOYS, playing at Circa Two in Wellington every night at 7.30pm, are pleased to offer a discount rate of $8 for every show to all performing arts students. Directed by David Lawrence and written by Paul Rothwell, the play has been gaining acclaim from critics and audiences alike.

"Don't miss it." - NBR

"daring revamp" "hugely entertaining" – Dominion Post

"Macabre but funny, poignant yet disturbing." – Kapiti Observer

At the heart of Golden Boys is a script featuring Rothwell's signature style of effortlessly switching from humour to chilling drama, all the while cutting to the bone of the issues boiling under the surface of society. Director David Lawrence says: "it is wonderful to read a script that is about bigger things and tries to deal with the universals of life, death, love and obsession."

Lawrence also helmed Rothwell's Hate Crimes, a critical and audience success during its sold-out season at BATS Theatre in April 2005. Later in the year he appeared again at BATS with I.D., which went on to win him Director of the Year and Production of the Year at the 2005 Chapman Tripp Theatre Awards.

The cast features I.D. alumni Alex Greig (who won Best Supporting Actor for his role), Erin Banks, and Salesi Le'ota. They are joined by Julian Wilson (Little Shop of Horrors) and 16-year-old Jack O'Donnell. The show is produced by Louise Rae (Hate Crimes).

Golden Boys plays at Circa Two in Wellington until 11th February, 7.30pm Tues-Sat; 4.30pm Sun. Tickets are $18/$20 or $8 for performing arts students, and can be purchased from the venue, 04 801 7992, www.circa.co.nz.
