Jade String Quartet - TIME and SPIRIT
TIME and SPIRIT
"Time and Spirit" is the title of the new concert series presented by Auckland's innovative and professional Jade String Quartet. The concert incorporates words and music and will include short readings chosen by North Shore artist Loveday Kingsford. These readings will be from poetry or prose taken from the era in which the music was composed. The full programme includes John Dowland's Lachrymaes, Claude Debussy's String Quartet, Beethoven's String Quartet in A minor opus 132, and Hudson River Pieces which are the work of the New Zealand composer Jonathan Besser. Words and music have been chosen to inspire contemplative response.
The Jade String Quartet is composed of musicians Miranda Adams and William Hanfling on violins, Robert Ashworth on viola, and Claudia Price on cello. The ensemble members, all players in the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, began performing together in 2003 during the Auckland Philharmonia chamber music series, Ensemble Philharmonia. The quartet delivers exciting live performances from a wide range of musical styles and often include performances with artists of other genres.
