Alps And Jessica Something Jewish World Tour Hits NZ

25/05/06 - USA's Jessica Something Jewish and Australia's Alps will hit NZ shores for the first time this May/June, spreading dates out across both islands over two weeks, playing alongside a diverse range of local bands. The two indie/electronic crossover acts have just completed a 14 date Australian tour and are passing through NZ on their way to the US to tour further into the year.

The dates are as follows:

16 June - Cityside Baptist Hall (AA), Auckland w/ Grace Lawry

Jessica Something Jewish is the stage name of Portland's James Glines, who is touring to promote the release of his new record Seattle Calls and split EP with Alps. After years of playing to American indie kids on his own tours and alongside bands including Ash and Tegan and Sara, JSJ is making his way overseas for the first time. His music successfully mixes the synth stylings of Ladytron and The Human League with memorable songwriting bringing Bright Eyes and The Arcade Fire to mind.

Alps, the one man band of New South Welshman Chris Hearn is on tour to launch his follow-ups to the releases of a CDEP and 8" record, with a new split CD with Jessica Something Jewish, and test out new material from his new full length album, Alps of New South Wales, which will be released on 12" vinyl by Sound and Fury Records In July. Alps plays a mixture of indie pop, electronica and noise on a variety of instruments and analogue equipment. Alps has played alongside Xiu Xiu, Castings, Die! Die! Die!, My Disco, and Kiosk and has scored supports on the upcoming tours for Wolf Eyes (USA) and Limited Express (Japan).
