Kiwi Porn Stars On International Arts Scene
Kiwi Porn Stars On International Arts Scene
Following their recent success at The Melbourne International Comedy Festival, the Van Brugh Family, creators of New Zealand’s cult comedy hit, My Brother And I Are Porn Stars are back in town for a 4 night fundraising season at the Herald Theatre, June 29th – July 2nd. Kindly supported by The Edge, performers Jackie van Beek and Jonathan Brugh are set to take this outrageous show to this years acclaimed Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
“My Brother And I Are Pornstars is so
very very wrong but very very funny. You have been
warned.”
The Age, MELBOURNE, April 2006
The Edinburgh Fringe Festival is effectively the largest arts market in the world, and My Brother And I Are Porn Stars has secured a performance slot at the Gilded Balloon, a venue renowned for its promotion of high quality international comedy shows.
Since its premiere at Auckland’s Silo Theatre, August 2005, My Brother And I Are Porn Stars has had NZ throbbing with excitement touring to BATS Theatre, Wellington, Christchurch (as part of the World Buskers’ Festival) and The Fortune Theatre, Dunedin. Only a few were offended – everyone else was speechless …totally without speech!
My Brother and I Are Porn Stars is a side-splitting, edgy love story that deals with issues of incest and de-sensitization to pornography in a hilarious, fantasy-stricken manner. For the Herald season the show carries a self-censored R18 rating. The cast and crew of Van Brugh Family are hugely grateful to The Edge for their support of the show and their efforts to take it to the Edinburgh Fringe.

“If
there was a taboo left unbroken at the end of this
incredible show, I couldn’t spot it. Maybe that’s because
like most of the audience, I was left stunned and impressed
and shocked and dazzled ….”
