The countdown is on!

The Dowse >> JULY 2006

The countdown is on!

The stunning new Dowse prepares to re-launch in style in February 2007.
The Dowse closed it's doors for a major building redevelopment in September 2005. Since then demolition and construction has forever changed the face of much-loved Dowse - and definitely for the better! The Athfield Architects design includes over 60% more exhibition space, multipurpose indoor & outdoor facilities, and a spectacular cafe and destination store. The exciting opening programme of exhibitions and events is shaping up to bring you the very best in New Zealand and international creativity and innovation - from ceramics to cyber-art, photography to fashion, fine art to family fun - as always there will be something for everyone.

The new Dowse Cafe / Restaurant

Business Opportunity

As part of our building redevelopment, The Dowse will be adding an exciting new cafe / restaurant to its current mix of award-winning art gallery, events, exhibitions and touring products and services.

If you know of the perfect cafe, please email us (by reply to this email), and let us know if there is a great cafe /restaurant you've been to, an unusual creative fit-out or concept, or a superior latte you've sampled?! either in Wellington, NZ or beyond, so that we can also consider your ideas as we call for expressions of interest in this unique business opportunity .

(due 31 August, 2006)

The Blumhardt Gallery

(upstairs) at The new Dowse

The Blumhardt Gallery is the exciting outcome of a partnership between The Dowse and the Blumhardt Foundation, founded by noted ceramicist and educator, Doreen Blumhardt. It is located on the second floor of The new Dowse building, and will be accessible by lift or stairs. A fantastic addition to The Dowse experience, it is a 130m2 purpose-designed, permanent exhibition space that will be New Zealand’s premier national showcase for decorative arts and design. more
