Dancing Star Takes to the Slopes
Lake Wanaka, New Zealand – 25 July 2006 - Dancing with the Stars professional, Hayley Holt, will display another side of her talents next week when she takes on the world’s best in the Burton New Zealand Open Snowboarding Championships in Lake Wanaka.
Holt, who partnered Danyon Loader in the recent TV series of Dancing with the Stars, is one of New Zealand’s top female riders and was recently voted second overall female in the 2006 NZ Snowboarder Magazine Rider Poll. She will compete against the world’s top athletes in what promises to be fiercely contested women’s event featuring a number of Olympians from around the USA, New Zealand, Japan and Canada, including 2002 gold medallist Kelly Clark.
The Burton New Zealand Open kicks off on 3 August at Snow Park with the Slopestyle followed by the Halfpipe Prelims on 4 August and finishing with the Halfpipe Finals on Saturday 5 August. Evening entertainment includes the Gravis Open Sessions on 3 and 5 August featuring top New Zealand bands, King Kapisi, Kora, Sunshine Soundsystem and Shapeshifter as well as an Invitational Quarterpipe Jam at Snow Park from 6pm on Friday 4 August with music by Downtown Brown.
