Film-maker's own story finally told
Peter Jackson, the boy from Pukerua Bay who beat Hollywood at its own game, finally tells his life story in a new biography to be published by HarperCollins New Zealand on 10 November 2006.
Peter Jackson: A Film-maker's Journey is the only authorised biography of New Zealand's most famous director. Following numerous approaches, Jackson chose to work on the biography with Brian Sibley, a writer and the producer of the critically acclaimed BBC radio dramatisation of the Lord of the Rings.
Written over several years, Peter Jackson: A Film-maker's Journey tells the story of Jackson's life through his own words, as well as drawing on the memories of friends, family and associates.
The book encompasses the making of Jackson's early movies from Bad Taste, Meet the Feebles and Brain Dead to Heavenly Creatures; the first abandoned King Kong re-make; The Frighteners; the triumphant filming of The Lord of the Rings - a project abandoned two years into pre-production, rejected by most studios then picked up by New Line Cinema in what was the biggest gamble in film history; the Academy Awards®; the filming of King Kong and more Academy Awards®, plus his current project, The Lovely Bones.
Peter Jackson: A Film-maker's Journey will be published simultaneously in New Zealand, Australia and the UK in November.
