Frontseat, 10.20pm this Sunday 24th September on TV ONE

Frontseat

THE GREAT TORONTO RAMPAGE: Oliver heads up the red carpet at the massive Toronto International Film Festival with a flock of sheep, Jonathan King and Robert Sarkies – the directors of the latest Kiwi feature films, Black Sheep (a horror comedy about genetically altered sheep) and Out Of The Blue (about the Aramoana massacre).

THE FRONT ROW: opinionated comment from recognisable faces with plenty to say. Keep your eyes peeled for actor Joel Tobeck, naked Samoan Mario Gaoa, radio gal Noelle McCarthy, artist Dick Frizzell & film reviewer Steven Gray. This week: TV guy & spelling nazi Jon Bridges, MA, tackles the problems with poetry, with the help of a branding expert, a sexy blonde, some teenage boys, a rapper and a wad of cash.

A TINY, DRIPPING HOVEL: After years of fundraising and lobbying, Waitakere City Council has restored and opened the former home of iconic painter Colin McCahon to visitors. But artists will get to stay next door in a Pete Bossley-designed residence where they won’t have to bury their own sewage.

NOMINATE A GREAT LINE IN KIWI FILM: Nominations are flooding in! “I’m a Derek… and Dereks don’t run” is our favourite of the week. Don’t miss out on your chance to have a say in the greatest line in New Zealand Film. The Top 10 will be revealed in October. NOMINATE a Greatest Line in Kiwi Film by emailing gabe@frontseat.co.nz.

ALSO: The APRA NZ Silver Scroll Awards for songwriting; New Zealand Book Month; and some more neighbours of art have their say about sculptures that they have to look at all day long.

Send your story ideas and arts diary submissions to Frontseat's researcher Gabe McDonnell at gabe@frontseat.co.nz.
