Band incites riot in Wellington

Wellington band Dekline is inciting a riot through the Capital’s Civic Square this Saturday, saying that it was time for Wellingtonians to rise up and riot.

Dekline, a four-piece industrial rock band, need 150 Wellingtonians to act in a riot scene for the shooting of the music video for new single Push Stop.

For the pivotal scene, prospective rioters are being asked to wear dark colours, bring some ‘obscure implements’ to wave around if they have them (garden tools will suffice) and be prepared to act like agitated zombies for a few hours.

The shoot this Saturday, October 14, begins at 4.30pm at Civic Square, Wellington. A catering team will be on hand to provide refreshments.

“Auckland had its fun with the Queen Street riots, Dunedin gets to burn couches and Christchurch has Manchester Street but Wellington’s had a mild ride so far,” band founder and guitarist Kier Fitzpatrick said.

“It’s time for Wellingtonians to have a riot on public property and see what they’ve been missing out on. At least it’s in the well-controlled environment of Civic Square so no-one should get hurt.”

Before the police and hardcore anarchists get too wound up in anticipation of a good old-fashioned riot, Dekline would like to point out that the riot is for artistic purposes only, and has the consent of the Wellington City Council.
