MEDIA STATEMENT
16 February 2007
Issued By Triathlon NZ Chief Executive Officer Dave Beeche
“Triathlon New Zealand congratulates Rebecca Spence and Samantha Warriner on their success at the 2006 Halberg Awards.
“Double World Junior Duathlon Champion Rebecca Spence is well-deserving of the Emerging Talent award due to the huge achievements she has made at such a young age. We expect to see Rebecca on podiums around the world in years to come.
“Samantha Warriner is also hugely deserving of her Sportswoman of the Year nomination. As a Commonwealth Games silver medallist and hugely successful on the World Cup circuit, Samantha has inspired many young New Zealanders to get involved in triathlon.
“As the country’s leading organization for multisports, Triathlon New Zealand congratulates both athletes and wishes them success in their future competitive careers.”
