Sports stars signed up for Dot Com New Zealand's "Most Valuable Player" at ID Dunedin 2007

Janelle Bennett (23) is the smart, street savvy most valuable designer behind "Most Valuable Player", the winter 2007 collection from Dot Com New Zealand taking on the world at this week's Vodafone ID Dunedin Fashion Show.

The M.V.P. collection is punching above its weight – full of colour, sporting attitude, edgy appeal, and kind of style that makes it sure to score.

With a line up that features lemon-honey winter scarfs, tennis-star jerseys for the gentlemen, short cardigans in electric blue and fire-engine red for the ladies, white ribbed tees and black puffer jackets, Dot Com New Zealand is ready to dominate the first half, the second half, and bring back a gold.

Janelle caught the eye of the selectors while completing her Bachelor of Design in Fashion at Otago Polytechnic in 2004, and was snapped up a week out of training by Tamahine for an undisclosed signing fee.

She was appointed to lead design and spearhead a new concept for Dot Com New Zealand by Managing Director Ross Gamble of Tamahine, New Zealand's largest and best known knitwear company behind the brand.

Janelle took the opportunity and ran with the ball.

Ross had no idea what was ahead of him. When Janelle asked for soccer gear and basketballs for the label's range to appear at the 2007 Vodafone ID Dunedin Fashion Show, he just said "yes."

In 2006, Tamahine director Ross took the young designer on a scoping and ideas trip to London, Paris, Amsterdam, and Tokyo, where she checked out the form.

This forward thinking approach by Dot Com New Zealand has paid off with sales booming as their new 2007 collection "M.V.P" streaks up the league tables.

Tamahine is a family-owned Dunedin business. Diane Gamble, who works alongside her father Ross, says Janelle has brought fresh thinking to the concept brand.

"Dot Com New Zealand is our development range. Janelle comes and tells us what she would like to do – and we let her go for it."

Dot Com New Zealand are one to watch. Tamahine's experience and credibility have met a match with young street style to create a winning team.

Watch the Dot Com New Zealand "M.V.P" winter collection 2007 put the home side in a solid position for the rest of the season on Saturday 10 March 2007 at the Vodafone ID Dunedin Fashion Show.

And remember – it's all about how you play the game.
