Best Qualifying Performance For Bamber

Wanganui teenager Earl Bamber handed in his best qualifying performance of the 2006/2007 Toyota Racing Series today when he qualified third fastest for the opening race of the final round at Pukekohe tomorrow.

The series is part of the programme at the V8 Supercar motor race meeting at the South Auckland circuit this weekend.

Bamber was second fastest for much of the session, only being nudged to third in the final moments of the 20 minute qualifying period.

The fine performance follows on from a successful test at the Taupo Motorsport Centre midweek where 16-year-old Bamber went under the current lap record at the central North Island track. His time in testing at Taupo was 7/10th's of a second quicker than his qualifying time when the series visited the circuit in January.

Bamber, the current Formula BMW Asia Champion will compete in two races this weekend, the first a 12 lap race timed to start at 2.55pm tomorrow with the final race of the eight round championship scheduled for 9.10am on Sunday morning.

Earl Bamber's 2006/2007 racing campaign is supported by the TradeZone Industrial Group and their supplier partners CRC, Koken, Hitachi Power Tools, Bahco, Fuller Hand Tools plus ESWA, Power Horse Energy Drink, Wanganui Toyota and South Taranaki Toyota.
