Flames Call on Fans to Fire Up for Clutch Game
The Goldair Flames face a crunch match against the Ascot Park Hotel Sting in what is likely to be their last ever home game of the National Bank Cup, this Saturday at 4pm at the Westpac Arena.
The Goldair Flames need a win to sneak ahead of the Diamonds, who face the less fancied Flyers on Sunday, to secure the fourth spot in the National Bank Cup semi-finals.
Canterbury Netball General Manager Jason Watkins is calling on home fans to help the team get over the line.
“The Goldair Flames would love to see a full arena this Saturday, so we are urging fans to come prepared for a ‘red and black-out’. We want to see everyone decked out in our proud colours to make it a daunting sight for the visiting Sting,” he says.
The Goldair Flames are also offering fans an extra incentive to attend the 4pm match at Westpac Arena on 2 June. Fans are being offered the chance to get two children’s tickets free when they purchase an adult’s ticket.
“Many people have already taken advantage of this special offer - we have already pre-sold more tickets to the Sting game than any game this year - so it would be great to see close to a full house on Saturday to spur the team on to a victory against the Sting and remain undefeated at our home fortress in 2007.”
Goldair Flames coach Marg Foster says the players get a real lift from vocal fans getting behind the team.
“The Sting home court in Invercargill has been a cauldron for visiting teams so it would be great to see a huge crowd of red and black on Saturday,” she says.
“We have to let the Sting know we have all of Canterbury behind us. The girls really respond to the crowd when it gets behind us. It sends the adrenalin pumping and gives us a real edge”.
Tickets are available at all Ticketek outlets and online at: ticketek.co.nz
