Poetry in the city
To celebrate Montana Poetry Day 2007 on 27 July, poetry lovers are invited to participate in a number of poetry events at Auckland City Libraries.
Budding poets of all ages have until 18 July to enter original poems in an open poetry competition where Whitcoulls vouchers can be won. Entries can be submitted online via the Auckland City Libraries website or by picking up an entry form at their local library.
Poetry Central ’07 is a daylong event taking place at the Central City Library on 27 July. Highlights include Moving Right Along ’07 where poetry readings will take place on the library escalators; and, in association with the New Zealand Poetry Centre and the Auckland University Press, multimedia displays, book launches and poetry readings featuring Fiona Farrell, Jan Kemp, Michele Leggott, Jack Ross, Bob Orr, Janet Charman and Paula Green will take place in the evening from 5.30pm.
