Simpsons Sky Jump Into Skycity Cinemas
Fans waiting to see The Simpsons Movie, opening at SKYCITY Cinemas on Thursday, July 26, get the chance to catch one of their favourite characters up close and personal when Bart Simpson leaps 192m from Auckland's Sky Tower.
To celebrate the opening of the movie, Bart Simpson, aka Matthew Liebmann, General Manager of SKYCITY Cinemas, will "base-jump by wire" from the Sky Jump platform on Thursday, July 26 at 8.50am, falling for approximately 16 seconds at speeds up to 85kph.
Matthew Liebmann says, "The Simpsons has been at the forefront of popular culture for almost two decades and their big screen debut is one of the most highly anticipated movies of the year.
"I literally grew up with The Simpsons and while I'm now of an age where I look and act more like Homer, the chance to jump off the Sky Tower as Bart was just too good to refuse."
As part of SKYCITY Cinema's Hot Seat promotion, customers who see any movie before August 22, including The Simpsons Movie, can text the 'unique code' they receive with their ticket to 5646 and be in to win $10,000.
