The seventh annual Air New Zealand Fashion Week will see the up-and-comers and crème de la crème of New Zealand Designer Fashion pulling out all the stops over four days to turn every fashionable head in the room with their vision and direction for the upcoming winter season.

At a media launch this afternoon (24th July), Air New Zealand Fashion Week Managing Director Pieter Stewart announced the 2007 Designers who will stamp their creative footprint on the local and global fashion industry with their Winter 2008 collections at Auckland’s Viaduct Harbour Marine Village from 16-22nd September 2007.

From longstanding Air New Zealand Fashion Week icons Hailwood, Karen Walker, Carlson, Kate Sylvester, ZAMBESI and Trelise Cooper to the fresh talents of newcomers Chelsea Thorpe, Lonely Hearts Club, Elusiv, Salasai and Love Lies Bleeding – Air New Zealand Fashion Week 2007 is enveloped by the significant creative successes of fashion forward Kiwi Designers.

“Air New Zealand Fashion Week provides a great forum for New Zealand designers, an excellent opportunity for the industry to work together, a strong source of employment and a forum for creative people to cluster around other creative people,” says Stewart.

“It encourages investment in the sector and other creative sectors and generates substantial and ongoing returns,” she says.

“Air New Zealand Fashion Week has significantly raised the profile of the fashion industry and
has created many off-shoot industries developed through Air New Zealand Fashion Week itself. This extends to the creation of fashion-focused media that promote the industry year-round.”

Worth an estimated $23.2million to the New Zealand economy and $19.2million to the Auckland economy, Air New Zealand Fashion Week 2007 will feature approximately 60 Designers and 36 individual shows, along with the AUT Rookie Show and Verge Breakthrough Designers.
