Conrad Smith Finds NZ's Best Practical Jokes

Conrad Smith finds New Zealand's best practical jokes

Bananas in pants, pot scrubs in shoes and glad wrap across toilet seats and doorways are some of New Zealand's most popular practical jokes.

Conrad Smith called on practical jokers throughout New Zealand to share their secrets last week on Yahoo!Xtra Answers.

The New Zealand rugby centre and law graduate has developed a reputation off the field as a practical joker to his long-suffering team mates.

"I'm one of the smallest guys in the team, and my team mates are predominantly huge, so I have to be careful when I try to meddle with their bedrooms or draw on their face while they are asleep!"

Citing a need for new material Conrad asked the question:

What's the best (harmless) practical joke you've ever pulled on someone?

New Zealanders responded in earnest, some confessing to jokes pulled years earlier and others boasting about the "one they pulled the other day on my mates while they were sleeping."

Conrad was impressed with the quality.

"There were some great answers, all of which I have committed to memory. Hopefully the guys haven't been reading them as well or else I'm going to cop a few pranks myself."

In the end Conrad chose hsm_76's answer as the best. Hsm_76 suggested using a seam ripper to take half the stitches out of the backside of a mate's jeans, then getting them to pick something up in a public place.

"This practical joke appealed to me because it was original and subtle, which is crucial when trying to get away with these sorts of things in a team environment. It also doesn't cause too much damage....apart from embarrassment, which is the best kind."
