ID Dunedin Fashion Week To Go Ahead In 2008

ID Dunedin Fashion Week to go ahead in 2008

ID Dunedin Fashion Week will proceed in 2008, the organising committee announced today.

Committee Chairperson Susie Staley announced today a substantial partnership with The Southern Trust.

The Southern Trust, with its Head Office in Dunedin, is a not-for-profit organisation licensed to operate gaming machines throughout New Zealand. The Trust's overall vision is to maximise the return of gaming revenue, for the benefit of the community.

"ID Fashion Week was on the brink of postponing next year's show," said Ms Staley. "The partnership with The Southern Trust is fantastic and means the event can proceed in 2008.

"The Southern Trust is definitely the knight in shining armour for ID Dunedin Fashion Week in 2008." She said. "We are over the moon at their enthusiasm and commitment to this iconic Dunedin event and we look forward to working with them."

Ms Staley is confident that ID Dunedin fashion Week will be better than last year. However, she stressed that more sponsorship was needed and the Committee was still keen to hear from potential sponsors.

And she said the long term viability of ID Fashion Week was still an issue.

"ID Dunedin Fashion Week is a non profit event run by a voluntary committee. It provides a great deal of value to Dunedin Inc and it needs ongoing commitment and support from the City," she said.

ID Dunedin Fashion Week is a launch-pad for emerging designers in New Zealand and abroad.

Ms Staley said entry forms for the Emerging Designer Awards had been sent out to Fashion schools around the world.
