Choir Auditions Nationwide for New Members

TOWER NEW ZEALAND YOUTH CHOIR AUDITION NATIONWIDE FOR NEW MEMBERS AFTER FINISHING A SUCCESSFUL INTERNATIONAL TOUR

TOWER New Zealand Youth Choir will be holding auditions for the 2008 - 2010 choir, in Auckland, Wellington, Dunedin and Christchurch from 13th -18th December.

The nationally and internationally acclaimed 2005 - 2007 Choir has recently returned from an award-winning international tour to Canada, the UK and Spain, where they won two third placings at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod in Wales, and a first and second placing in the Cantonigros Internacional Festival de Musica, Spain. While in the UK they were joined in concert by ex-choir members Jonathan Lemalu and Madeleine Pierard as well as Hayley Westenra.

The Choir is nationally selected every three years, and singers range in age from 18 to 25 years old. Selected Choir members represent the top young New Zealand singers, coming from diverse backgrounds and from all corners of the country. The Choir offers excellent musical training and performance opportunities around New Zealand and overseas.

Being a member of the Choir involves meeting together approximately three times a year for intensive week-long courses at different locations around New Zealand, under the guidance of their Artistic Director, Karen Grylls.

TOWER New Zealand Youth Choir, along with associated choir TOWER Voices New Zealand, is managed by the umbrella organization Choirs Aotearoa New Zealand. The TOWER Choirs provide a national standard of choral excellence for singers to aspire to.
