NEW DESIGNERS HOT TO TROT AT ANZFW

1984 Design Limited, Alexandra Owen, Elusiv, Jaeha, Love Lies Bleeding and Thomas Valentine represent six of the talented Designers new to the catwalk for Air New Zealand Fashion Week 2007. See more fresh faces in the next issue of Fashion Files!

1984 Design Limited

At 23, Auckland designer Katarina Tua is one of the youngest designers to show a commercial range at this year's Air New Zealand Fashion Week. 1984's collection for Winter '08, Checkmate! is a reference to the game of chess. Pleating and straight lines are pivotal elements as is Tua's choice of natural fibres - predominently wool and silk. Wednesday 19th September, 4pm.

Alexandra Owen

Established in 2004, Alexandra Owen is a Fashion House that whispers from the depths of the Southern Hemisphere. One part dark, one part light, the label embodies an intuition equal to its intellect. An infatuation for the craft, a need to create, and a ceaseless perfectionism has created a House culture of solidity, drive and passion. Wednesday 19th September, 5pm.

love-lies-bleeding

Established 18 months ago, love-lies-bleeding is a fresh, new label that has hit the ground running. With art and fashion degree backgrounds respectively, designers Rachel Easting and Anjali Stewart cite contemporary art as the basis for their collections. Their ambition and commitment propelled them onto the New Zealand fashion scene and after having existed for less than two years, their label can already be found nationwide. Monday September 17th, 4pm.

Elusiv

Nicola Reilly's motivation to create high quality clothing is in tune with the desire of the modern man to subtly express his inner confidence. Her style of clothing comes from a Dunedin-based fashion attitude where genuine and considered expression is valued and brash self publicity is not. Her quality garments are made with a strong consideration to fit, fabric, stitching and feel. Her look is decisive, strong and assuredly masculine and at the same time, informed, considered and intriguing. Wednesday 19th September, 4pm.

Jaeha

The Jaeha label is experimental with a touch of futuristic flair - directional and refreshing, exploring new shapes and styles. Established in 2006, the first collection by designer Jaeha-Alex Kim for A/W 2007 focused on rainwear and was shown on the Air New Zealand Fashion Week catwalk as part of the AUT Rookie Show as Kim was still to graduate. Australian fashion store Blondies gave Kim the seal of approval after spotting his work in the and placing his first order. Tuesday 18th September, 12pm.

thomas valentine

thomas valentine is a label that seeks to be constantly inspired and to respond with imminently sexy, beautiful and wearable pieces. Designer Sheridah Anderson's collection for Summer 07/08 is no different, mixing delicate and pale with structured and strong, never losing sight of an easy wearability along the way. Deeply feminine, unique and unashamedly pretty, thomas valentine has chosen Summer 07/08 to be its turn to shine. Wednesday 19th September, 4pm.
